As many of you already know, we are partly embarking on this adventure to help raise money for what we believe is a wonderful cause. We are both huge supporters of the Max Higbee Center, a recreation center for people with developmental disabilities.
While talking with our friends at the Max Higbee Center, they were excited about our upcoming adventure, and even about the idea of biking. In noticing this excitement, we wanted to provide them with the same opportunities we have to access this type of fitness and recreation. However, in trying to make this happen, we ran into many hurdles: the extreme cost of adaptive cycles ($1,500-$3,000!), finding a manufacturer, choosing a cycle that will fit many needs, etc.
So, long story short, we are dedicating this trip towards supporting the health and physical well-being of our friends. While this trip is guaranteed to give US so much, we also hope it can give back to people so much more deserving of the chance to ride their bicycles.
